Blog Post 20: Barn Conversion - So Long To Sunny Cockermouth

August 2023 - at the end of June I optimistically gave a months notice on my rental property, so, from 1st August, come hell or high water, the barn conversion was going to be my home :-)

I had a nightmare move with AnyVan (a man-with-a-van type service) - I only had a few items to take from the rental to the barn conversion, but the things I was taking were too big to move in my car.

Anyvan were scheduled to come on 30th July, but, they just did not turn up, and then, on the 31st July, my last possible day in the rental, they didn’t turn up until 5pm … I was supposed to had the keys back to the estate agent by close of play on 31st, so, as you can imagine, I was less than happy.

Whilst the barn conversion isn’t finished yet, I do have a serviceable bedroom, ensuite and kitchen so I guess being there isn’t too bad :-)

The kitchen walls have been tiled …

The boot room wall is being tiled ….

If anyone in North West Cumbria is looking for a tiler, I would recommend my tiler - Wayne Johnston Tiling - without any hesitation.

Wayne and Keith are super-helpful; they project a calm confidence when faced with challenges born out of years of experience in the building trade.

There’s been progress in the guest ensuite too … in Blog Posts 10 & 16 I spoke of the need to ‘notch-in’ the shower door frame in the guest ensuite …

This is what it looks like now it has been done …

My next challenge is to make this look good :-)
