Blog Post 4: Barn Conversion - Kitchen Chosen

September 2022 - I was clueless about how much a kitchen would cost, so I got 3 quotes - one from a discount firm, one from a mid-range firm and one from a high-end firm.

All the designers listened to how I think I will use the space and to the kind of things I think I will need in my kitchen [definitely a spice rack :-)] … and … I was explicit with them that my budget is super-tight.

All the designers took those things on-board and created their design accordingly.

After much deliberation, I’ve gone for the high-end firm.

My thinking is that the kitchen will be a space where I will spend a lot of time, so, it’s OK to spend a little bit more on a Schüller kitchen and to make up that additional expenditure with savings elsewhere … I hope my thinking is right :-)

Shout out to InHouse: inspired room design and to my designer Rhys who has worked hard to come up with a layout that works in the barn conversion’s kitchen space.

This is a render of the kitchen.

The beams, an angled wall and a floor to ceiling window made it a challenging task.
