Blog Post 1: Barn Conversion - The Beginning

January 2022 - Endless estate agent searches later, I’ve finally found something I like the look of … it’s a barn, built 1855, converted to a pre-first fix residential property. It’s in a hamlet of 7 houses in the Lake District National Park.

An image of the barn pre-conversion taken from the planning application Design and Access Statement.

Another pre-conversion image, this time from the planning application bat survey. This is the side elevation - the R’s are the bat roosts.

Again, pre-conversion, from the planning application bat survey, this time from the rear of the property.

The barn as it now stands at pre-first fix.

May 2022 - the purchase is eventually complete. I found the length of time it took to complete the legal process extremely frustrating and I certainly needed an eye for detail in terms of the title deeds - but - finally, it’s all done.
