Blog Post 13: Barn Conversion - Still Decorating

March 2023 - painting ceiling and walls … not really how I had imagined spending my evenings.

Intumescent paint - what a nightmare :-(

I’ve ended up having to bite the bullet and employ a professional to do the intumescent base coat on the exposed RSJs … an expense I can’t really afford … but, at least it is now done, and, done to a standard that will satisfy Building Control. I’ve had a go at finessing the RSJ top coat.

The double height landing RSJ was a challenging spot to reach …

… and the guest bedroom has two of the damn things :-)

The kitchen has been delivered.

A lot of kitchen in what suddenly feels like a very small space :-)

I thought the kitchen would be installed on the bare concrete floor, but, the consensus of contractor opinion is that I should wait until the kitchen floor is tiled … I have reluctantly agreed … reluctantly because that means the boxes containing the kitchen will have to be moved into the living room whilst the kitchen floor is tiled … and … the kitchen floor can’t be tiled until the air source heat pump is installed because the underfloor heating has to be tested for issues before the tiles go down.

Any change in my imagined scheduling of tasks has annoying knock-on consequences :-(
