Blog Post 16: Barn Conversion - So Many ‘Almost Done’ Jobs … Jul 10 Written By Tim Brown June 2023 - the bathrooms are almost done … Main bedroom ensuite - View 1 - I’ll never use the bath but the architect assured me putting one in was the right thing to do. Main bedroom ensuite - View 2 … the extractor fan is yet to go into the ceiling, the illuminated mirror is yet to be wired-in and everything needs to be siliconed in, but, it’s almost there.Note the stylish temporary addition under the toilet which will remain until conversion work has finished :-) Guest room ensuite - View 1 - siliconing to be done and an illuminated mirror needs to be wired-in to this room … the main thing that is left to do in here is the ‘notching-in’ of the shower door … Guest room ensuite - View 2 - that said, the electrician tells me the ceiling extractor fan in here is proving problematic because of the angle of the roof slope. The kitchen progress … …. carcasses all in … but that was not as simple as I was led to believe … as I understood it, everything was delivered to site from Germany pre-cut to fit my room … but … as it turns out … not everything was pre-cut … Liam my joiner (Liam Skillen Joinery) had to work hard to ensure the angle of the corner-post (pivotal to all the units fitting correctly) was just right :-( … the ovens were fitted and the anti-crack matting was laid … … the floor tiles were laid, and, boom, I have an almost finished kitchen … almost finished because the counter top is yet to be fitted … why? … well, that is because, unbelievably, despite being given the correct measurements by the kitchen designer Rhys, the Germany manufacturer cut the counter top to the wrong size … this means that the hob and sink can’t be fitted until a solution to that issue is found :-( The hallway progression … front door weather bar and thresh fitted … … anti-crack matting went down … … then the floor tiles were laid … the services under the stairs are yet to be hidden … I do have a idea of how that can be achieved but I need to talk that through with my joiner, hopefully he will be able to make a ‘cupboard’ that will disappear into the back wall.
